1 Peter 2:11-12.
“Salvation, Submission, Suffering.” A Study Through the First Epistle of Peter.
In the second century, Aristides of Athens wrote that the greatest evidence for the validity of the Christian faith is the Christian lifestyle. If he is right, then that means that every Christian has the ability within them, and the opportunity around them, to be the greatest reason for someone else to trust in Jesus as Savior. But that also means that if the lifestyle of a Christian is not in line with who they say they believe in, that is the primary reason for someone not to believe.
In Peter’s letter, he writes that when people see the Christian, they ought to see the Christian lifestyle first. People ought to see the Christ we serve in us. As the privileged pilgrims we are (as those who do not belong to this world), Christians should not blend into the world but should indeed stand out because our faith is in the highest standard that exists – Jesus Christ and His life.
