In today's world, even among some so-called Christian sects, the Old Testament is often considered to be irrelevant. On the contrary, the entirety of Scripture, including the Old Testament, is the only thing that makes followers of Christ relevant at all. One of the greatest and most loved narratives in the Old Testament is First Samuel, because it tells the story of the first kings of Israel and the remarkable providence of God in the lives of three men; the prophet Samuel, King Saul, and a young man David.
